PERIVALE WOOD

Perivale Wood is one of Britain’s oldest private nature reserves and a bird sanctuary since 1905. Keeping it safe and intact means that access is restricted to Society members but we usually have an April Open Month, with three or four days when the public can come along and visit us, plus many natural history events for the public throughout the year.

OPEN DAYS 2025

After careful thought, we have decided that we will not be holding any public Open Days during 2025; we will be having a ‘fallow year’ to allow our team of volunteers to recharge following a busy year. We look forward to returning refreshed in 2026.

Open Days represent a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase Perivale Wood and the work of the Selborne Society to the wider public and to raise funds to support the Society’s charitable activities. However, organising Open Days represents a significant undertaking for us, involving hundreds of hours of voluntary time across our small team of trustees and other volunteers. Taking a year off will allow our team to rest and to focus their energies on other activities including maintaining and improving biodiversity at the reserve and improving our scientific recording.

Our 2025 program of events for members including members’ days remains unaffected.

Thank you for your understanding and support. We look forward to welcoming the public back to the reserve in spring 2026.

“Selborne is the secret, private parish inside each one of us.”
